India vs. England match: Sehwag departs after quickfire cameo

Today’s World Cup match features the tie between India and England at Bangaluru’s Chinnaswami stadium. And the match, that has drawn crowds in thousands, is turning out to be an engaging affair.

Winning the toss, India have elected to bat first and there was thrill written all over right from the first ball which saw Sehwag edging one for a boundary. Virender Sehwag played dangerously with quite a few aerial shots.

He started off tentatively in the first over which saw him edging the ball three times. However, lady luck favoured him and he survived the James Anderson over. He then went on to bludgeon the ball on all corners of the park.

While Sachin Tendulkar started off cautiously, Sehwag was playing in a marauding fashion striking 6 thumping boundaries. His 35 came off 26 balls but after the quickfire cameo, he perished giving out a catch behind the stumps in a Tim Bresnan delivery.

Gautam Gambhir, who came next, hit some good-looking shots to try rebuild the innings with Tendulkar. The current score card reads 111/1 in 20 overs with Tendulkar on 43 and Gambhir on 30.
