Cricket: England make 196 for two in 30 overs against India in World Cup

Chasing an imposing 339 for a win, England were 196 for two wickets at the end of the first 30 of their allotted 50 overs against India in a crucial Group B World Cup match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium here today.

Skipper Andrew Strauss (109) and Ian Bell (33) were at the crease.

Opener Kevin Pietersen made 31 before he was caught and bowled by Munaf Patel when England had made 68 in 9.3 overs. His 31, compiled off 22 balls, included five hits to the fence.

Jonathan Trott made only 16 off 19 balls before he was trapped leg before wicket by Harbhajan Singh when the England total was 111 off 33.2 overs.

Earlier, opener Sachin Tendulkar hit a superbly paced and constructed 120 as India, batting first, made 338 in 49.5 overs.

Left-handers Yuvraj Singh (58) and Gautam Gambhir made half-centuries, while opener Virender Sehwag contributed 35 and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni pitched in with 31.

Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first, and Tendulkar and Sehwag put on 46 for the first wicket in 7.5 overs.

Sehwag fell when he tried to guide a ball from pace bowler Tim Bresnan, that was outside the off-stump, through the vacant slips only to find wicket-keeper Matt Prior dived to his right and take a good one-handed catch.

Sehwag, who had starred in India's win over Bangladesh with a brilliant 175 in the tournament opener at Mirpur on February 19, scored 35 today off 26 balls with the help of six fours.

Tendular, rather tentative in the early stages and unable to find gaps in the tight England field, gradually came into his own and brought up the 50 of the innings with a brilliant flick to the fence front of square and then followed it up with an even more exquisite shot, this time to backward of square.

He seemed content to play the role of the anchor as Gambhir slowly opened out at the other end.

The left-hander cut a short one from Bresnan over backward point for four and then took two fours off Graeme Swann in the next over. He came down the wicket and lofted him over long-on first. Off the next ball, he tried to lift him over extra cover but got a thin inside edge tat Prior could not quite reach behind the wicket and the ball raced to the boundary for another four.

India moved into the 90s and then Tendulkar whacked one from Swann past the bowler's right for a four to bring up the 50 of the partnership off 54 balls.

The master blaster then lifted one from Paul Collingwood over the bowler's head for the first six of the match that also took India past 100.

A little later, the little master brought up his own 50 in style, picking up one from Collingwood early and lifting it high over the vacant mid-wicket region for his second six. The half-century came off 67 balls with the help of two sixes and three fours.

At the half-way mark of 25 overs, India were 140 for one, with Tendulkar battng on 57 and Gambhir on 43.

Tendulkar brought up the 150 of the innings with a six off Swann over long-on and then heaved him deep into the stands over mid-wicket off the next ball. That also brought up the 100 of the partnership between him and Gambhir. In the next over, he came up a late cut over gully for another four, this time off Ajmal Shahzad.

Clearly, Tendulkar looked unstoppable now as he hit Anderson for two successive fours, the first one a superb cover drive and the next one to square of the wicket. In the same over, Gambhir reached his half-century when a thick inside edge flew past the stumps to the fence. He had reached the mark off 59 balls with five fours.

In the next over, the 30th, Swann finally got Gambhir to come up with the much-needed breakthrough for England. The left-hander tried to turn one to third man, but the ball spun past him and knocked back his stumps. He had made 51 off 61 balls. India were 180 for two at that stage.

Things quietened down for a bit, with Swann sending down a maiden over to Yuvraj Singh in his next. In the next over, Tendulkar, now in his 90s despatched Yardy to the fine leg boundary. He took a single off Swan to take India to 200 and then whipped Bresnan to the fine leg fence to reach a superbly paced century and bring the crowd to its feet, roaring in approval. It was his fifth World Cup century, the most by any batsman, and the second against England. India were 206 for two after 35 overs.

At the other end, it was the Yuvraj Singh of yore as he picked up a low full toss from Swann and sent it over Collingwood at mid-wicket for four. In the same over, Tendulkar lifted the bowler over long-on for his fifth six.

The Indian batsmen now seemed to be toying with the England bowlers. Yuvraj pulled a short one from Bresnan for four and then Tendulkar pulled him past short fine leg for another four.

As Strauss rotated the bowling, Tendulkar hit Anderson for another four past short fine leg. But he finally left off the next ball, aiming one towards the leg but getting a leading edge to cover where Yardy took an easy catch. His 120 came off 115 balls and was studded with five sixes and 10 fours. India were 236 for three in 38.2 overs at that stage. At the end of 40 overs, the hosts were on 247 for three.

The last ten overs saw the Indians trying to put up the maximum runs on the board and lost quick wickets in the process. Yusuf Pathan could make just 14 while Kohli managed only 8. Harbhajan Singh (0), Zaheer Khan (4) and Piyush Chawla (2) were those who got out, while Munaf Patel remained unbeaten without scoring.

For England, Tim Bresnan took five for 48, while James Anderson, Graeme Swann and Michael Yardy took one apiece. Two of the Indians, Khan and Chawla, were run out.

India favourites to win World Cup: Dhoni's father

DEHRADUN: Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's father Paan Singh on Sunday said that his son's team are the favourites to win the ongoing World Cup.

"I am confident that Mahendra Singh Dhoni's team will win the World Cup and make the country proud," Paan Singh told reporters in Almora on Saturday evening as he and his wife Devaki Dhoni reached to attend the wedding of their nephew at Lwali village.

Dhanpat Singh Dhoni, brother of Pan Singh, lives in their native place at Lwali in Almora district.

Ind 238, India vs England World Cup 2011 live cricket score highlights

Ind 238, India vs England World Cup 2011 live cricket score highlights. Tailenders failed, otherwise score would have been in excess of 350 runs

Bangalore: Indian cricket team came up with a scintillating batting performance. The good show started from the word go when Sehwag went on fire beating bowlers one by one. Then came Gambhir who took the mantle from him and played a good shots.

But it was little master Sachin Tendulkar who was at his destructive best, first making sure that he was well settled and knew the nerves of the bowlers and then went on to play a memorable inning of 120 runs, his second hundred against England in the World Cup.

He showed all the bowlers their place and hit them four and sixes with disdain. He hit five huge sixes and ten fours and after facing 115 runs he scored 120 runs.

Yuvraj and Gambhir too hit half centuries and they scored 58 and 51 runs respectively.

Meanwhile English bowlers bowled very poor line and length Anderson in his nine overs gave 82 runs while yardy gave 64 run and took one wicket.

Bresnan was the best performer with the ball today taking five wickets and gave away as little as 48 runs.

India meanwhile was all out for 338 runs in its 50 over quota.

India is the favorite as it will be aiming to regain the title once more time. The last time India had won the trophy was in 1983. Since then India had been trying hard to win the trophy but with no success. It is understood that this time India has a good team with combination of youth and experience. India landed at the World Cup on positive notes by beating co-hosts Bangladesh by 87 runs. The opener in Dhaka was a treat to watch. Swashbuckling Virender Sehwag was at the centre of attraction. He managed to score a scintillating hundred. The top order fired well with Virat Kohli also making life difficult for Bangladeshi bowlers.

Master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar looked in excellent touch. Now as the match readies to unfold on Sunday all eyes will be on Tendulkar. Besides, Irfan Pathan is also at the centre of attraction. Fans still remember his terrific century in South Africa when he single handedly managed to maul SA. This time also a lot is being expected from him.

Former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri said: "Victory against England will make it two-out-of-two and we would be almost certain to make it to the quarterfinals. You can play freely. So the next match is very important to get a win on the board."

World Cup: Two held in betting racket

BANGALORE: A betting racket in connection with the India-England World Cup tie on Sunday was busted and two persons arrested, a top police official said.

Eight other bookies, however, managed to escape. The accused, Dinesh Kumar (36) and Vadivelu (34), were arrested by the City Crime Branch special squad during a raid in Jayanagar area on Saturday, police commissioner Shankar Bidari said in a release on Sunday.

An amount of Rs two lakh was seized from Dinesh Kumar who had collected the money from punters.

In addition to this, eight mobile phones, an LCD TV, one paper sheet containing details of persons and amount involved in the betting were also seized, the release said.

It said Dinesh Kumar also disclosed the names of other bookies who escaped. They are Narahari, Soni Mukesh, Harish, Bachan, Lokesha, Seebu, Tiger and Akkipet Babu.

Kumar was also in touch with bookies from Mumbai and Delhi and used to transact with them. Investigation has revealed that the accused were in the cricket betting racket for the last 10 years, the release said.

India vs England: Going down memory lane

The very first game of the World Cup was played between India and England, back in 1975 at Lord's. Since then, this rivalry has grown into a fascinating duel, with India enjoying a upper hand in recent times. We look at four games between the two sides that are worth remembering for years to come..

When Freddie took off his shirt...

The teams went into the final game with India leading 3-2. This match, at the Wankhede in Mumbai, provided the fitting climax as England eked out a thrilling five-run win to draw the series 3-3. England made 255 based on opener Marcus Trescothick's 95. They looked like making much more at 153-2, but collapsed, with Harbhajan Singh picking up a five-for. Sourav Ganguly (80) led India's chase, but Andrew Flintoff (3-380 won it for England. To rub salt into India's wounds, Flintoff took off his shirt and ran around the ground with his teammates in jubilation.

Feb 3, 2002 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Brief scores: England 255 in 49.1 overs (M Trescothick 95, N Hussain 41, A Flintoff 40; Harbhajan 5-43) beat India 250 in 49.5 overs (S Ganguly 80; A Flintoff 3-38) by five runs.

When Aleem Dar did India in

It was the decider of the NatWest series, which had gone right down to the wire at 3-3 till that point. At Lord's, however, everything went wrong for India. England, expectedly, prepared a fast and bouncy wicket and bowled out India for 187. The game, unfortunately, was spoiled by Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar's folly in judging Sachin Tendulkar out caught behind off Flintoff when television replays showed that the ball had brushed the batsman's shoulder.

Sept 8, 2007 at Lord's

Brief Scores: India 187 in 47.3 overs (MS Dhoni 50; A Flintoff 3-45, A Mascarenhas 3-23) lost to England 188-3 in 36.2 overs (K Pietersen 71 not out, P Collingwood 64).

The Lord at Lord's

It was probably the second most impactful win for India after the 1983 World Cup triumph. The Natwest tri-series final looked like England's for the taking after Nasser Hussain & Co made 325 for five. With the top order in the hut, all hope looked lost at 146-5, before Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif scripted a sensational turnaround with a 121-run partnership. The most abiding memory though was Sourav Ganguly twirling his shirt on the Lord's balcony.

July 13, 2002 at Lord's

Brief scores: England 325-5 in 50 overs (M Trescothick 109, N Hussain 115; Z Khan 3-62) lost to India 326-8 in 49.3 overs (M Kaif 87, Yuvraj 69, S Ganguly 60, V Sehwag 45) by two wickets.

The Nehra sixer

In a must-win game for India, Ashish Nehra produced perhaps the best-ever spell delivered by an Indian fast bowler. Playing with a badly damaged knee, Nehra ran through the English batting line-up on a seaming Durban pitch. In between, the charged up pacer had a banana and threw up instantly! The other thing worth remembering from this game is Sachin Tendulkar's pulled six off seamer Andy Caddick.

Date: February 26, 2003

Venue: Durban

Brief scores: India 250-9 in 50 overs (R Dravid 62, S Tendulkar 50, Yuvraj 42; A Caddick 3-69) beat England 168 in 45.3 overs (A Flintoff 64; A Nehra 6-23) by 82 runs.

Eng v Ind 11th ODI ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Live Streaming

Watch India vs England (Eng vs Ind) ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 11th ODI Group B at Bangalore Live Streaming Match and Live Scores online with online betting tips. Today’s Hot favorite team will be India with 77.3% chance to win whereas England 22.7% to win the match.

However India have to be considered heavy favorites to beat England cricket team here. While the Indians can entertain very real chances of winning the entire competition, the way England are playing, that would seem nothing more than a fantasy. England were poor coming into the World Cup, and basically scraping home against the Netherlands in the first match here is not going to scare anyone. India look ominously good when beating Bangladesh, hitting 370/4 and its this kind of hitting that will be the deciding factor. India will be far too good, England look short in every way, and that includes confidence. It may not be a battering but it should be comprehensive, and the Indians will win and make it two from two, leaving England to look forward to what should be a straightforward win over Ireland.

India vs England: Tendulkar's blistering ton takes India to 338

BANGALORE: Sachin Tendulkar smashed a record fifth World Cup century with a breath-taking display of strokeplay as India rattled up an imposing 338 all out in their group-B league match against England on Sunday.

Scorecard

The 37-year-old Tendulkar (120) slammed his fifth World Cup century, the highest by any cricketer in the megaevent, to provide the sparks in a scintillating Indian batting display at the jam-packed Chinnaswamy stadium.

Apart from Tendulkar's 47th ODI century, Gautam Gambhir (51), Yuvraj Singh (58) and Virender Sehwag (35) were the other notable scorers as the Indians virtually tore the English batting attack to shreds to leave the visitors with a stiff asking rate of 6.78. It was India's highest World Cup total against England.

Pacer Tim Bresnan was the pick of the England bowlers with 5/48 but none of the other bowlers could make much of an impression.

It was vintage stuff by Tendulkar as he unleashed 10 boundaries and five sixes in his 115-ball 120 to lay the platform for the Indian onslaught.

Tendulkar's milestone moment came in the 35th over when he glanced Tin Bresnan to the boundary to record his fifth World Cup century, surpassing former India captain Sourav Ganguly, current Australia captain Ricky Ponting and his former teammate Mark Waugh who had four hundreds to their credit.

Electing to bat first, the Indian innings began on a tentative note but the runs started flowing once the batsmen came to terms with the pace and bounce of the Chinnaswamy track.

Opener Virender Sehwag had a reprieve in the very first ball of the innings as Graeme Swann dropped a difficult chance in the second slip off James Anderson.

The dashing opener tried to push Anderson's outgoing delivery and got a thick edge but Swann could not latch on to the sharp chance.

Sehwag had two more close shaves in an eventful first over as he struggled to time the ball well. But he began to look a little more comfortable against paceman Ajmal Shahzad as he spanked him to the boundary in his first ball.

Sehwag attacked Anderson by smashing him to the point boundary while Tendulkar also tried to force the pace of scoring by going for his strokes.

Although the ball was not coming on to the bat quickly enough in the initial stages, Sehwag played with customary flourish and picked up Anderson for special treatment by clobbering him for 11 runs in one over.

But his belligerence was shortlived as he perished in the very next over with pacer Tim Bresnan accounting for his scalp in his very first over.

Bresnan provided some width and Sehwag tried to steer the ball through the vacant slips but only succeeded in edging the ball to wicket-keeper Matt Prior. His whirlwind knock of 35 came off 26 balls and contained six boundaries.

With Sehwag's departure, Tendulkar took upon himself the responsibility of scoring briskly as he hammered Anderson for two consecutive boundaries.

The left-handed Gautam Gambhir, who joined the action after Sehwag's fall, also made his intentions clear as he used his feet to smash spinner Graeme Swann to the boundary in his first over. But in that same over, Gambhir was lucky to survive a stumping chance.

Tendulkar brought about India's 100 on the board in style by lifting Paul Collingwood for a huge six over long off. He notched up his 94th ODI half century with another six, Collingwood being the bowler again.

With the two Indian batsmen going great guns, England captain Andrew Straus brought back his main spinner Swann into the attack and Tendulkar greeted him with two consecutive sixes much to the delight of the capacity crowd.

Tendulkar lifted Swann's first ball for a six over wide long-on with intense power and then clobbered the next ball over mid wicket.

While Tendulkar went on the offensive, Gambhir fetched his 22nd ODI half century with a streaky boundary to the third man region.

But Gambhir (51) perished in the very next over being bowled by Swann as he lazily tried to steer a turning ball towards third man only to see his stumps being knocked down, bringing an end to the rollicking 134-run partnership.

Tendulkar then created history by becoming the first cricketer to score five centuries in the World Cup when he glanced Bresnan to the fine leg boundary.

After completing the milestone, Tendulkar unleashed a flurry of strokes and again picked up Swann for special treatment by clobbering him for a mighty six over long-on.

It was Anderson who brought an end to Tendulkar's rampaging knock as the champion batsman played his shot a touch too early and Michael Yardy took the catch at cover. His scintillating 115-ball 120 contained 10 boundaries and five sixes.

Yuvraj notched up his 46th ODI half century by hitting Anderson to the boundary as he combined with captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni to maintain the run flow.

Yuvraj and Dhoni returned to the pavilion in quick succession as they tried to force the pace of scoring in the slog overs.

India vs. England match: Sehwag departs after quickfire cameo

Today’s World Cup match features the tie between India and England at Bangaluru’s Chinnaswami stadium. And the match, that has drawn crowds in thousands, is turning out to be an engaging affair.

Winning the toss, India have elected to bat first and there was thrill written all over right from the first ball which saw Sehwag edging one for a boundary. Virender Sehwag played dangerously with quite a few aerial shots.

He started off tentatively in the first over which saw him edging the ball three times. However, lady luck favoured him and he survived the James Anderson over. He then went on to bludgeon the ball on all corners of the park.

While Sachin Tendulkar started off cautiously, Sehwag was playing in a marauding fashion striking 6 thumping boundaries. His 35 came off 26 balls but after the quickfire cameo, he perished giving out a catch behind the stumps in a Tim Bresnan delivery.

Gautam Gambhir, who came next, hit some good-looking shots to try rebuild the innings with Tendulkar. The current score card reads 111/1 in 20 overs with Tendulkar on 43 and Gambhir on 30.

Ind vs Eng: Sachin Tendulkar falls after record World Cup ton

NEW DELHI: James Anderson had Sachin Tendulkar caught by Michael Yardy in the covers as India lost their third wicket with 236 runs on the board in their World Cup clash at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore on Sunday.

Scorecard | Photos | Points Table

Tendulkar's 120-run knock came off 115 balls and was studded with 5 sixes and 10 fours.

Tendulkar hit his 47th century off 103 balls as India crossed the 200-run mark in the 35th over.

This is Tendulkar's fifth World Cup century - the most by any player in the world. Tendulkar achieved the landmark with a boundary to fine leg off Tim Bresnan.

This was after England off-spinner Graeme Swann clean bowled Gautam Gambhir (51) to place India at 180/2 in 29.4 overs.

Tendulkar and Gambhir added 134 runs for the second wicket as they got hold of the proceedings in the middle.

Tendulkar reached his fifty in style with a big heave over mid-wicket and once again it was Collingwood at the bowling end.

Tendulkar took India past 100-run mark with a fine lofty six, the first of the match, over mid-off on Collingwood's delivery.

Paceman Tim Bresnan provided England crucial breakthrough as he got rid of dangerous looking Indian opener Virender Sehwag in his first over of the day.

Sehwag was sent back to the pavilion with a fine diving one-handed catch by wicketkeeper Matt Prior.

Sehwag, who scored a quickfire 35 off 26 balls, slammed six boundaries during his short stay at the crease. Sehwag also became the third Indian to score 1000 ODI runs against England.

Opting to bat, Indian openers Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar got off to a fine start against England.

Dashing opener Sehwag got a few close calls in the first over itself but he was lucky enough to survive.

Sehwag slashed the very first ball of the innings, which kissed Graeme Swann's hand at the third slip on its way to the boundary. Sehwag got another leading edge on James Anderson's delivery but it landed safely.

The explosive Sehwag continued his attack as he welcomed seamer Ajmal Shahzad with two more boundaries in the second over.

Earlier in the day, England seamer Stuart Broad was ruled out of the World Cup clash against India after being confined to bed for two days.

Seamer Ajmal Shahzad has been pencilled into the playing XI in pacer Stuart Broad's place while in the batting line-up, Michael Yardy has come in for Ravi Bopara.

On the other hand Piyush Chawla replaced S Sreesanth in India's playing XI, with Indian team going into the match with two specialist seamers and spinners.

"Good luck lads, gutted I'm not there. Will be watching from the bed I've not left for 2 days.... Never felt worse," Broad wrote on his Twitter account.

India vs England: Sachin Tendulkar hits 47th ton

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar scored his 47th ODI hundred and 5th in World Cup. He hit Bresnan to fine-leg for four to complete hundred. India was 210/1.

English pacer Tim Bresnan provided first break through to England as he dismissed Sehwag for 35 runs.

Indian skipper won the toss and elected to bat first against England in the Group B match of World Cup here at M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore on Sunday.

Dhoni has been playing with two seamers, two spinners and one part-timer in this match.

For England, injured Stuart Broad has been rested and Ajmal Shahzad is in. Ravi Bopara has paved way for spinner Michael Yardy.

Both Nokia and ESPN will jointly market the app, which has been available on Android and iOS from the start of the season (nma.co.uk 12 August 2010).

The launch is the latest move in ESPN’s bid to bolster its profile as a sports broadcaster in the UK. Earlier in the year it revealed plans to revamp its cricket site ESPNcricinfo with exclusive video content in the run-up to the current ICC Cricket World Cup (nma.co.uk 11 January 2011).

How to Watch India vs England Live Streaming

With all the buzz about the Oscars, an event like the Cricket World Cup 2011, that sees India vs. England in a historic match, can be easily overlooked. Both teams are very strong, and while India did win a Cricket World Cup in 1983, England has never brought home the champion’s trophy. Who knows, perhaps 2011 is England’s year?

The Cricket World Cup is the main event of the day in UK and India, two countries that couldn’t care less for Oscars’ buzz today. All they care about, for good reason, is the game, and following the buzz revolving around the scores, favorite players and winner predictions, becomes imperative. Below, a list of sites where cricket fans can monitor live feedback on the Cricket World Cup 2011, currently ongoing at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, Karnataka.

BBC Sports features live cricket scores, cricket tweets, photos, commentary, and a live feed of readers comments, discussions and more. The scores update automatically – a full scorecard is available here. The Telegraph features England’s second World Cup game against India in Bangalore with Jonathan Liew’s live over-by-over commentary. Some tweets are interjected here and there as well, featuring comments from sports analysts, or simply interesting fan opinions. The Guardian has a live page as well, which updates every minute, with commentary from Rob Smyth.

UK users can listen to live commentary, but there’s currently no possibility for fans to watch the ICC Cricket World Cup live online. For apps buffs, the Times of India has compiled a list with the 7 hottest ICC World Cup 2011 apps.

Live Cricket World Cup - India v England

  1. 40 overs Commentary Ind 247-3

A fierce square cut against Yardy brings Dhoni four, then he tries to force a quicker ball to leg and nearly plays onto his stumps. Just one more single is added. And the TV camereman in the crowd picks out a familiar face... it's former England and Warwickshire spinner Ashley Giles, now the Bears' director of cricket. Ganguly may be the "Prince of Kolkata", but Gilo will always be the "King of Spain"...

  3. 39 overs Commentary Ind 242-3

Captain Mahendra Dhoni is the new batsman, he's the non-striker for now. Yuvraj pulls a single, Dhoni steers his first ball for a single and Yuvraj carves another bouncer for four.

  4. SMS

From Sreejay, Chennai: "A ’demoralised’ Aussies smashed them, the Dutch scared off their pants - And England still thought they could win? Eat less lotuses!"

  5. 38.2 overs WICKET Tendulkar c Yardy b Anderson 120 (Ind 236-3)

Jimmy Anderson back on, it's been a luckless day for him - can his luck change? Tendulkar helps himself to four down the leg side, then Tendulkar steps to leg, gets a leading edge and he's pouched at cover on the edge of the circle! A slightly bizarre way to end a superb innings.

  6. SMS

From Conor, Portsmouth: "This match is just proving how far this England team is from being the best in the world."

  7. 38 overs Commentary Ind 232-2

Michael Yardy to bowl. In a powerplay, no less. Tendulkar singles, Yuvraj turns one off his legs, Tendulkar misses with an attempted sweep and they run a leg bye - just those three runs from the over, England would have settled for that.

  8. Twitter

From ricky_kanani: "It will be a sad day for cricket when Sachin Tendulkar hangs up his bat. Genius!"

  9. 37 overs Commentary Ind 229-2

This should be fun - India have taken the batting powerplay. I heartily applaud the tactic of taking it when two batsmen are well set like this, rather than waiting too late and having your tail-enders at the crease (otherwise known as "the England tactic"). Bresnan's first ball is a bouncer and Yuvraj dents his figures by whacking him for four through square leg. He swings and misses with another big glast, it hits him on the pad and they trot through for a leg bye. Strauss completely switches his field for the right-handed Tendulkar, who can't beat the man at cover. Bres tries a slower ball, Tendulkar waits and helps it to fine leg for four. A single takes him to 115.

  10. Contributor BBC Sport's Oliver Brett

"Of Sachin Tendular's 47 ODI centuries, and counting, this was only the second scored against England, the previous one coming in 2002 at Chester-le-Street in a day-nighter that was rained off. England's entre team have only 21 ODI tons between them, with Kevin Pietersen leading the way on a modest seven, and Matt Prior yet to reach three figures."

  12. 36 overs Commentary Ind 219-2

Swann serves up a full toss to Yuvraj, who dismissively flicks him for four wide of mid-wicket. Tendulkar goes aerial again, that's a huge six over cow corner and Jonathan Trott on the boundary just watches it sail over his head and land several rows back! Two more singles added - Sachin has 110 from 108 balls, Yuvraj has 17 from 21.

  13. SMS

From Anonymous: "The great man Sachin -- proved that he want to lift the World Cup before he leaves the show of cricket."

  14. 35 overs THAT'S 100 Ind 206-2

Yardy's off after a one-over spell and Tim Bresnan returns - he's comfortably England's most economical bowler so far, and also took the valuable wicket of Sehwag. Tendulkar glances the first ball of the over down to fine leg for four, and that's his century! Tendulkar removes his helmet and holds his bat to the sky to celebrate his 98th international ton (51 in Tests, 47 in ODIs). Tendulkar dabs a single, Yuvraj clips a single to fine leg.

  15. 34 overs Commentary Ind 200-2

Tendulkar, on 96, guides Swann for a single. Yuvi clips one off his legs, and Tendulkar keeps the bowling again - India have 200, and their hero has 98. Time for the compulsory ball change.

  16. 33 overs Commentary Ind 197-2

I know it'll upset a few of you that they've taken a drinks break, yet after 34 overs we'll have the compulsory ball change so play will be held up again... Yardy returns in place of the beleagured Anderson, and Tendulkar creeps ever closer to his 98th international century with a delicate leg-glance for four. A single takes him to 95, and there's a hint of turn for Yardy (ominous considering India'a array of spin options) as Yuvraj works a single. Tendulkar pushes a single through the covers, the crowd won't mind him nicking the strike.

  17. Twitter

  19. 32 overs DRINKS BREAK Ind 190-2

Swann regains some control with a maiden over to Yuvraj - hitting him on the pad, Prior appeals for lbw but Swann, a little less frenzied with his appealing than the keeper, decides against a review. The ball-tracking system suggests it may possibly have brushed the top of leg stump - but it was "umpire's call", so the on-field decision would stand, and it wouldn't have been out. Yuvraj has eight, Tendulkar has 90.

  20. Twitter

  21. 31 overs Commentary Ind 190-2

Anderson is struggling here, India help themselves to five singles while the left-handed Yuvraj - who towers over his batting partner - blasts a four through long-on.

  22. BBC Test Match Special's Simon Mann

Contributor BBC Test Match Special's Simon Mann

On Twitter: "That ball really turned. Good for England in one sense...Gambhir out... but not good in another with a target of 320+ likely."

  23. 30 overs Commentary Ind 181-2

New batsman is Yuvraj Singh - India have an array of hitters they can bring in, perhaps they want to keep the left-hand/right-hand combo. Yuvraj is off the mark with a single - and as samyooell points out on Twitter, the "double the score after 30 overs" theory looks very ominous for England.

  24. 29.4 overs WICKET Gambhir b Swann 51 (Ind 180-2)

Gambhir changes his bat between overs, having been offered a choice of four or five by the 12th man. Tendulkar steers Swann for a single, then finally England have the breakthrough as Gambhir is bowled by an absolute beauty from Swann!

  25. SMS

From Ade: "Ever noticed when England are bowling you never get that '100 balls since last boundary' line flash up on screen?"

  26. 29 overs Commentary GAMBHIR FIFTY - Ind 179-1

England turn back to James Anderson as Cap'n Strauss rotates his bowlers. A single by Gambhir brings Tendulkar on strike, and Tendulkar beautifully cover-drives for four ("shot of the day" contender in terms of artistic impression) before chopping his sixth four through point. A single takes him to 87, then Anderson - who nearly had Sehwag three times in the first over - is out of luck as Gambhir gets an inside edge which scoots past the stumps and away for four more - that's his fifty. 14 from Jimmy's over.

From nachiket_t: "Sourav Ganguly in the commentary box... can we have a 'shirt off' celebration if India win please?"

  28. 28 overs Commentary Ind 165-1

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, the "Prince of Kolkata", joins Aggers on TMS, but his ex-team-mate Tendulkar is giving a batting masterclass here, working Shahzad around the park for a four past third man and a two to leg - and leaving England captain Andrew Strauss scratching his head as to where to place his fielders.

  29. Twitter

From hejmadv: "Strange that Boycs was not recognised and mobbed in Delhi when he was looking for a lift [see 19th over]. He spends a lot of time in India."

  30. 27 overs Commentary Ind 159-1

Swann returns, Tendulkar blasts him over wide long-on for six to bring up the century stand. The second ball is hoisted over mid-wicket for six more! Will he go for the Garry Sobers/Ravi Shastri/Herschelle Gibbs/Yuvraj Singh record of six sixes? There's a palpable sense of disappointment around the M Chinnaswamy Stadium as he only steers the third ball for a single. He's on 72, a two takes Gambhir to 46 and India are really cooking here.

  31. SMS

From Vik Aarella: "Watch the match or study for the exam in two days' time? Match I guess."

  32. 26 overs Commentary Ind 144-1

Gambhir knocks Shahzad for a single, Tendulkar glides one to third man and then Gambhir's hit on the pad, Shahzad appeals for lbw but the Indian pair scurry through for a leg bye. The deftest of delicate dabs brings Tendulkar a single, he now appears to be calling for a drink. This stand is now worth 98.

From AmethystTweet: "What is it with England and the 50-over game? Great Test side, great Twenty20 side but never seem to shine in this format."

Tweet us with the hashtag #bbcworldcup to get involved

  34. 25 overs Commentary Ind 140-1

India reach the half-way point of their innings with more careful ones and twos against Yardy. Simon Hughes on TMS wonders whether with Kevin Pietersen opening, India could give Yuvraj Singh a couple of overs early on - as KP has been vulnerable to left-arm spin of late, and had an entertaining duel with Yuvraj a couple of years ago when he called the India star a "pie-chucker"!

  35. Twitter

From andybrown755: "Looking ominous for England here... Tendulkar is such an elegant player to watch - much better than that slogger Sehwag."

  36. 24 overs Commentary Ind 133-1

Shahzad returns in place of Colly but opens with a legside wide, it's not been a great day for the Huddersfield Hero, who made a couple of errors in the field - but he redeems himself somewhat with four dot balls before Gambhir clips a single to the mid-wicket sweeper. Gambhir has 40, Tendulkar has 53.

  37. BBC Test Match Special's Sunil Gavaskar

Contributor BBC Test Match Special's Sunil Gavaskar

"India have been trying to play sensible cricket, they've not got carried away with the occasion and these two are creating just the sort of platform India need. 280 is the minimum they should be scoring after this start."

  38. 23 overs Commentary Ind 131-1

Gambhir whacks Yardy for a two through the covers, India are comfortably milking the singles against England's support bowlers and this second-wicket stand is now worth 85 from 91 balls.

  39. Twitter

From hejmadv: "Slow and steady India, set it up nicely for Pathan and the Turbanator. Such a shame Yuvraj won't see Broad. Tendlya gets 50!"

  40. 22 overs Commentary TENDULKAR FIFTY - Ind 126-1

Simon Mann on TMS has been told that some people are still waiting to get into the ground after queuing for three hours. (Presumably the same security are on duty who tried to confiscate Geoff Boycott's sandwiches the other day). The singles keep flowing against Colly, then Tendulkar heaves a six over cow corner to bring up his fifty from 66 balls. It's his 94th ODI fifty - he has 46 tons. Two more singles, Colly is getting a bit of punishment here - three overs for 20.

  41. 21 overs Commentary Ind 116-1

Better over from Yardy, a single apiece from the second-wicket pair before Gambhir pushes a gentle two through the off side. Yardy darts a wide down the leg side, Prior's kept well today.

  42. SMS

From Darren, Plymouth: "Looking like England will be chasing 380 if this carries on. Time for Messrs Pietersen and Bell to step up me thinks."

  43. Commentary

From Tahir, London, TMS inbox: "Mark, I've seen this Indian team for the past two years. They will need 300+ to win this as their bowling attack is not as frightening as their batting."

  44. 20 overs Commentary ind 111-1

Colly keeps Tendulkar tied down for three balls before the "Little Master" can rotate the strike with a single, while Boycs and Simon Mann on TMS are concerned about the apparently low proportion of tickets at these World Cup games which have been made available to locals. "If we put them online, we're said to be elitist, if we put them on the gate we get crushes," ex-India star Javagal Srinath told Simon. A single from Gambhir takes India to Nelson - 111.

  45. 19 overs Commentary Ind 108-1

A double bowling change as slow left-arm "dart" merchant Michael Yardy replaces fellow spinner Swann. Tendulkar and Gambhir seem comfortable against the Sussex skipper, knocking singles at will - taking five from the over without any trouble. (The "Take Five" jazz tune goes through my head briefly).

  46. BBC Test Match Special's Adam Mountford

Contributor BBC Test Match Special's Adam Mountford

On Twitter: "Boycott tells us how he was taken to the wrong stadium in Delhi and had to try and flag down a car to get him to the cricket ground on time."

  47. 18 overs Commentary Ind 104-1

Bresnan takes a break with impressive figures of 5-1-18-1 and medium-pacer Paul Collingwood enters the action as England's fifth bowler. He'll hope for a better day than his beloved Sunderland had yesterday. After a single from Gambhir, Tendulkar sends the crowd wild by launching a huge, effortless six over long-off to bring up the hundred for India! Incredible shot! Colly tries to switch to his cutters, Tendulkar scoops a single to rake his score to 39.

  48. BBC Test Match Special's Geoff Boycott

Contributor BBC Test Match Special's Geoff Boycott

"Swann's not bowled badly at all here, but whatever they've tried here, like Jimmy Anderson's swing early on, it's not gone for them. This team showed in the Ashes that they have good character - and when the ball starts disappearing in about an hour's time, they need to keep their heads and give themselves a chance by holding India to a total that's gettable, as we've got a good batting line-up and it's a good pitch."

  49. Twitter

From tweets_by_ian: "Remember the days when Richie Benaud used to say 50 runs off 15 overs was a decent start?"

  50. 17 overs DRINKS BREAK Ind 96-1

Swann to continue, backed up now he no longer has to bowl to a powerplay field - he spins one down the leg side, Prior appeals for a thin edge behind but Aggers thinks he's trying a bit of kidology to persuade Mr Erasmus not to signal a wide, but Mr Erasmus isn't fooled. A single takes Gambhir to 26, then a powerful lofted drive by Tendulkar threatens to decapitate Mr Erasmus but he ducks in time and the crowd cheer Tendulkar's four. Time for drinks.

  51. BBC Test Match Special's Geoff Boycott

Contributor BBC Test Match Special's Geoff Boycott

"I can't believe we put men on the moon, the ICC gets millions of pounds from television revenue but we still can't get a proper white ball!"

  52. 16 overs Commentary Ind 90-1

Tendulkar waves at the dressing-room, it looks like he's calling for a new bat. He works a single, Gambhir dabs one to third man, while on TMS, Aggers is teasing Geoff Boycott by offering him some World Cup-themed crisps. They're quite spicy, and Aggers mischievously plans to leave some around the box. There's some debate about the condition of the ball - umpire Billy Bowden snips some loose bits off with a pair of nail-scissors (Aggers thinks the ball looks like it's been bitten by a dog), and India add some more ones and twos.

  53. 15 overs Commentary Ind 84-1

Swann bowls round the wicket to the left-handed Gambhir, who gets the scoreboard ticking again by stepping back and whacking a four over the infield and down over the extra cover boundary. The Indian pair exchange singles, then Swann loops in a legside wide which Prior does well to take. A single off the last ball of the fielding powerplay takes Gambhir to 23, he's nearly caught Tendulkar who has 24.

  57. 13 overs Commentary Ind 77-1

The BBC's Rahul Tandon reports that some people have taken three hours to get into the stadium, while Simon Hughes and Vic Marks on TMS agree that noise is a factor for the fielding side in an enclosed stadium like this - I heard Graeme Swann mention earlier that even the slips have trouble making themselves heard when talking to each other! Tendulkar and Gambhir push Swann for a few singles, before the southpaw Gambhir gives Swann the charge and hoists a four over mid-on. Swann spins one in which is missed by both Gambhir and Prior and shoots through for four byes.

  58. SMS

From Noel, Woking: "Jimmy [9th over] - shield your phone by lying on your side, and turn to silent... works every time."

  59. 12 overs Commentary Ind 66-1

Bresnan bangs in a short one against Gambhir, who unleashes a tennis-style forehand smash for four through cover! The left-hander then guides a single to the mid-wicket boundary, where Swann has replaced Shahzad. Tendulkar adds a single off the last ball.

Of England's previous 13 encounters against the current best Test team in the world, they have won only once (in Jamshedpur in April 2006) and lost 11 times, with one match abandoned. "I reckon that if Chris Tremlett had been in the squad, he might have played today. Yardy's quite good at keeping a lid on things, but he hardly ever bowls in Championship cricket - he's not an attacking bowler."

  62. 11 overs Commentary Ind 60-1

Umpire Marais Erasmus, wearing mirrored sunglasses, smiles as he signals the fielding powerplay. Off-spinner Graeme Swann to bowl, his hair looks a little ruffled. Tendulkar carefully turns a single off his legs - Vic Marks on TMS wonders whether at this World Cup he's targeting the three centuries he needs for 100 international hundreds. Gambhir steers a single - he has four, Sachin has 20.

  63. 10 overs Commentary Ind 58-1

Gambhir is watchful at first against Bresnan, dabbing a single to get off the mark. Tendulkar bunts one to backward point, then Gambhir guides Bres off his legs and Shahzad makes his second fielding fumble of the day, which allows the batsmen to come back for two.

  64. Twitter

From kentonye: "Top class Tim Bresnan does it again! Sehwag had been living dangerously from the first ball."

  65. 9 overs Commentary Ind 54-1

Tendulkar steers a full delivery from Anderson through mid-wicket for four, before clipping one past Strauss at short fine leg for another boundary. He's doing very well at finding the gaps in the field during the first (compulsory, 10-over) powerplay when England are only allowed two men outside the circle.

England make their first bowling change as Tim Bresnan replaces his fellow Yorkshire right-arm seamer Shahzad. Sehwag flicks Anderson off his hip, Shahzad runs round from long leg and looks set to cut it off, but misjudges the diving stop and lets it through for four. I'd hoped England had got all their "comedy fielding" out of their system with their display against the Dutch... Two singles bring Sehwag back on strike, he flat-bats one back straight and it sails over the bowler's head for four, before he nicks the strike with a single to fine leg.

Sehwag (whose shirt does not bear a number on his back) pokes a single to mid-on, Tendulkar helps one down the leg side but KP at long leg does well to turn a likely four into two. The Bangalore outfield is pretty quick, Tendulkar steers two more backward of point - he has nine, Sehwag has 23.

  75. 5 overs Commentary Ind 28-0

Anderson drops short to Sehwag, who curbs his attacking instincts to carefully upper-cut a single to third man. Tendulkar is hit on the pad, England stifle an lbw appeal, then Jimmy finds a bit of movement as he has Tendulkar playing and missing. Fourth umpire Aleem Dar is stalking round the boundary - Aggers thinks he's going to have a word with a man standing next to the sightscreen.  Tendulkar tries to force to leg... but it doesn't quite carry to Tim Bresnan at mid-wicket and they run one. The crowd are on their feet again as a controlled square cut brings Sehwag four. He tries to repeat the shot off the last ball, but Jonathan Trott at third man cuts it off for a single.

From Anonymous: "Long tail. Let's hope we bowl them out in less than 50. Strange decision to drop Bopara, who is one of the few who can hit out. Then again, they bowled Pietersen instead of him in the last match, so he wasn't being utilised fully anyway."

  80. 3 overs Commentary Ind 18-0

Tendulkar usually makes batting look easy to us mere mortals, waiting to steer Anderson for two through extra cover. "England need wickets, as if these two bat for a long time they can be very dangerous," notes Aggers on TMS.

Third ball, Sehwag gets a leading edge as he tries to force him to leg and it loops just over Ian Bell at backward point! They run two. I won't be able to take the tension if the whole game's like this... Jimmy strays with a legside wide, then Sehwag chips a lofted drive over the bowler's head and just over Anderson's fingertips! Five legitimate balls, and Sehwag could have been out three times! Indian idol Sachin Tendulkar defends the last ball to end an incredible first over.

Cricket, India Vs England ICC World Cup 2011 live score video, Ind 131 for 1. Sachin on fire. He has scored 53 runs and going strong while Gambhir is playing at 39 runs.

Bangalore: Sachin and Sehwag gave a very good start to the Indian inning and both played extremely well before Sehwag was sent back to the pavilion by Bresnan. Sehwag scored 35 balls of 26 balls.

After his dismissal Sachin and Gautam Gambhir have taken Indian inning forward. Sachin and Gambhir in the meantime are on fire. Sachin completed another half century of his great and illustrious cricket career. He faced 68 balls and has scored 52 runs including two huge sixes.

Gambhir is playing on his individual score of 39 runs after facing 42 balls. . after 23 overs Indian score is 132 and Sachin and Gambhir are playing at 53 and 39 respectively.

Today’s match is being touted as the biggest game of the ICC World Cup 2011 till now. Both the teams are girding up for this big clash. Though the momentum is with India after they convincingly won their opening match against Dhaka, but England too cannot be written off.

It is a different team as it is coming fresh from defeating Australia in the Ashes. But many point out towards the fact that its performance in the ODI series was not up to mark.

Keeping all this in mind it looks that India has an upper hand. But it is too early to jump to any conclusion because England would be striving hard to win this trophy for the first time. This time they are pulling all stops to take on India on their home soil.

Equipped with better bowling, building and batting they are ready to give India a stiff competition. England seam bowler Stuart Broad and others in the team are aware of the India’s potential. It would be a difficult task to floor India on its home ground that too when hundreds of thousands of fans will be rooting for their star performers.

Broad said: “We are aware of India's strength on their home ground. We are practicing hard to bowl and field much better than in the previous match against the Netherlands at Nagpur the other day (Tuesday).”

Fans are waiting for the thriller match to unroll.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 India versus England

Bangalore: India and England, two of the top favorite teams, would face each other in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on a sweet Sunday.

While India would be on song with home support, England seems to be the most balanced team at the moment.

The two teams are meeting in the world cup after a gap of eight years while their last meeing in an ODI was held on 26th Novemebr, 2008.

India had easily surpassed the target of 274 runs losing just four wickets with 38 balls remaining.

Again in the world cup's last meeting on 26th February 2003 India emerged as victorious by 82 runs.

So, England may be reminded of these last results and they must be raring to change the course.

In their first match both India and England beat their opponents with rather ease but they faced considerable resistance too. Canada scored 292 against England batting first while Bangladesh scored 283 chasing the target of set 371 runs by India.

When the match starts at 2:30 P.M. Indian Standard Time, all these analysis would be put behind and the toss winning team would like to put a big score on the board particularly if England bats first.

England may not have a very explosive opening pair like Sachin and Sehwag but they have a more disciplined batting line up, at least on paper. Kevin Pietersen did well against with Andrew Strauss in his new role of opener putting a century partnership. Other batsmen too chipped in with valuable contributions.

Apart from Sehwag and Sachin India have another pair of destruction batsmen in the form of Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli. Yuvraj Singh may be considered a weak link but then the Englishmen would have to face MS Dhoni and Yousuf Pthan.

England can take respite in a disciplined bowling Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad and James Anderson. Added to that would be the spin venom of Grame Swann. It would be real test for Swann against the explosive battery of attacking batsmen.

Munaf Patel has done well in the last match against Bangladesh taking four wickets but Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh are still to find the penetration needed to dent into the solid batting line up of England. Ashish Nehra is also expected to play if declared fully fit.

More than 20 million watch Americans India vs England have multiple ICC cricket world cup 2011 Social Security numbers online (SSNs) associated score with their highlights name in commercial records according to a new study announced in December from ID Analytics, Inc. The study found that rather than serving as a unique identifier, more than 40 million SSNs are associated with multiple people.

6.1 percent of Americans have at least two SSNs associated with their name. More than 100,000 Americans have five or more SSNs associated with their name.

Dr. Stephen Coggeshall, chief technology officer, at ID Analytics said. “Most of these cases of duplication are likely due to simple data entry errors as opposed to deliberate falsification. Nevertheless, organizations expose themselves and their customers to risk if they solely rely on the SSN to verify an individual.”

ID Analytics analyzed 290 million Social Security numbers, and found that 1 in 7 are associated with more than one name. Anywhere from 3-4 million names are directly used to commit fraud.

MSNBC reported the same study showed 140,000 SSNs are connected to 5 or more people and 27,000 SSNs are connected to 10 or more people.

Some of these secondary SSNs are the result of typos where an administrator may incorrectly enter a digit and then that secondary SSN is now connected to a person’s credit going forward.

In other cases it is deliberate fraud. When the same person is shown using multiple Social Security numbers on purpose then a flag is raised.

Consumers often find out their SSN is compromised as a result of being denied credit or when bill collectors call them for non payment.

India vs England: Watch out for these clashes

Yuvraj vs Broad

Yuvraj created an unforgettable moment when he smashed Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over during the inaugural World Twenty20 in the West Indies in September 2007. Four years later, as the two meet again on a big stage, things have changed drastically. Yuvraj isn't the same batsman anymore, at least in terms of form, while Broad is now a much improved bowler.

Harbhajan vs Collingwood

India's biggest ace in this match should be Harbhajan Singh. On a wicket that should help spinners, the Turbanator will be a major source of worry for Andrew Strauss & Co. It will require someone to play him with a sensible head, and the one man who could do this, is Paul Collingwood.

Sehwag vs Anderson

The batsman England would fear the most is Virender Sehwag. With the new ball, England would depend on James Anderson somehow get rid of Sehwag. Anderson, hugely effective on wickets that aid swing, would have to devise a way to avoid Sehwag's burgeoning blade. If he does get Viru early, Anderson will be the toast of his teammates.

India vs England: Sachin Tendulkar hits fifty

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar scored his 15th World Cup fifty in style. He hit Collingwood over the midwicket for six to reach the fifty. India was 141/1.

Teams:

Ind: Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel

Eng: Andrew Strauss, Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott, Ian Bell, Paul Collingwood, Matt Prior, Michael Yardy, Tim Bresnan, Graem Swann, Ajmla Shahzad, James Anderson

India vs England: Match Preview

One of the key battles of World Cup is being slated to be played between India and England.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Team India has been playing brilliant cricket for the last couple of years. Whereas England is one of the favourites team for this World Cup.

Both the teams have good players but spinners will be the key for victory here at bounce and turning track of Bangalore.

After World Cup Opener against Bangladesh, India has done plenty of net practice and team is looking to keep the momentum go against England.

It is expected that India will play with the two spinners. India will go with the theory of two seamers and two spinners

As it is one of the crucial games of league stage, both the teams will play with full strength. England skipper has already made it clear that they will rely on their pace attack. English pacers have decided to test Indian batsmen with short pitch and bouncing deliveries.

Pitch report: The pitch will produce turn and bounce for spinners but it would be better to bat first as dew factor is negligible in Banglaore.

Preview India vs England game

For any Indian who watches India-England games, the first thing that comes to a person’s mind when an India –England  clash is announced is Sourav Ganguly waving his shirt in the Lords balcony in celebration of winning NatWest 2002.Well over the years  both England and India have gone through several changes. Both the teams are on an all time high. England has just recently won the ashes down under and India also has the best battling line up that it has ever produced. Could we ever imagine that our batting line up would be so strong that players like Suresh Raina would have to sit on the bench. Well you can definitely say India has major home advantage. In the last 13 clashes that England has played against India in India they have managed to win only one game.

India:

On their clash against Bangladesh India showed how they can demolish any bowling attack. Virender Sehwag   as said kept his word and batted an entire fifty overs and made 175.Virat Kohli was also at his lethal best as he thrashed the bangladehi bowling. Gautam Gambhir and Sachin Tendulkar also looked in top form. As India put up a mammoth total of 370 runs without  the batting display on Yusuf  Pathan, Dhoni and yuvi. Well the batting combination for India will remain the same and no changes are expected in the side. The bowling of India was definitely not up to the mark. Sreesanth was  smashed all over the park by the Bangladeshis. He is definitely going to sit out in todays game. It is most likely that India  will be playing two spinners against England as Englands batsmen face difficulty is playing  spin. Harbhajhan will  definitely be the first choice and the second spinner should mostly be Chawla. India will be playing to two seamers. It should be Zaheer Khan and  Munaf Patel. Although Ashish Nehra is  totally fit it is more likely that Munaf will be playing because he has performed extremely well in the last game he took 4 wickets giving away only 48 runs.Well overall  India look like a very strong side.

England:

Englands  campaign got off to a very apathetic start. With the Dutch running them a lot closer than anyone expected. The English batting saved the day as Andrew strauss got his  team home. But facing Zaheer Khan will involve getting much more application into their game.Englands   entire post-Ashes form, in fact, has been of some concern with the heavy 6-1 loss to Australia preceding their World Cup.However England has been a very consistent team with the victory of the T20 world cup and the Ashes we cannot write them off. England’s playing eleven will be of much interest. With conditions pointing to the inclusion of an extra spinner to partner Graeme Swann, England may opt to go in with Michael Yardy over Ravi Bopara. Bopara is the better batsman of the two, but Yardy provides the slow-bowling option that the team could be looking for. The batting has a new look with Pietersen opening, but his elevation was not a success against Netherlands, and England will need a big score from him upfront in this crucial match.

India definitely go in as favorites but as Pakistan showed against Sri Lanka, even the home advantage and the strength on paper are far from guarantees when two strong sides meet.
